Warcraft: Orcs and Humans is a ground breaking game which created the real-time strategy war-gaming craze. It is easy to see why this game was chosen as Best Game of the Year, and one of the Best All Time Games.
As with most games that allow multi-player play, Warcraft is really two different games. The first is the single player game. With two campaigns, comprising twelve scenarios each, you are guaranteed many fun hours of beating back or advancing the orcish hordes, depending on which side you choose to play. The campaign games are really just good training for the multi-player action. And this is where things really get interesting. Though you are limited to head to head play, ie. 2016 nba finals full game 1. people max per game, it's so much more fun to crush the humans under your heel when it's your best friend you're crushing.
The graphics in the game a well done, though it is with the sound effects that the game really shines. Every unit has it's own sayings it utters as you click on it. Continue clicking on the unit to hear it grow increasingly annoyed (and occasionally threatening) with your manhandling. It's still fun to hear a peasant mutter, 'Your Liege?'
All in all, Warcraft definately deserves the best of the Genre title. It spawned countless knock-offs and clones, and gave birth to one of the most enjoyable genres of computing gaming currently available.
Graphics: Graphics were excellently done and enjoyable to see.
Sound: Extremely amusing and one of the best parts of the game.
Enjoyment: Again, this game started the craze.
Replay Value: Throw in multi-player play, and any game can be played endlessly. Or at least as long as you have friends willing to die for you.
The Kingdom of Azeroth was relatively peaceful and ruled by King Llane. That was until a powerful mage named Medivh commanded forces that opened up a portal in the Swamp of Sorrow, leading to another world. This ushered in the Age of Chaos, as Orcs were summoned to this world and attempted to establish an empire. As the Orcish hordes swarmed from the portal, they met with the Humans of Azeroth and battles ensured. Peaceful co-existence is not an option. Only one race will attain dominance over the land.
Warcraft: Orcs & Humans is the first real-time fantasy strategy game from Blizzard Entertainment. By playing either the Humans or the Orcs in this saga, two separate story lines evolve with 12 scenarios per side telling the tale of the battle for Azeroth. Players must mine gold and chop wood in order to construct buildings and create new units. From swords to sorcery, all the elements of classic fantasy are here to explore: rich forests, dark dungeons and bubbling swamps await the stalwart troops amassed to fight for dominance.
