worked for me
Had to download to use for some camera downloads for Nikon camera. It worked well. Don’t know yet if I’ll have other uses for it.
You had one job!
I hadn’t needed to extract much else than zip files so never needed a utility like this until today where I needed to extract a .rar file someone sent me. I remembered the name Stuffit from back in the day and go figure, they’re still around with a version 16 product. I gave it a try and it fails to do the one thing I downloaded this program for. It said there was something wrong with the .rar file and couldn’t open it. Reading some of the other reviews, I go and download The Unarchiver and guess what? It opens right away with no issues.
Stuffit, you had one job. You’re at version 16! No time for you, the nostalgia isn’t going to cut it. Unistalled.
Nope.
I tried using this app because I heard about it, so I installed it to try it out. Then, when it got to the last step it didn’t let me even try to do it. How am I supposed to use this when it doesn’t even let me attempt the final step? Do yourself a favor and install actually useful programs like The Unarchiver which I have used for years and the only files it wouldn’t open for me are corrupted files and .exe files because a mac isn’t designed to open .exe files normally. Since it’s freeware I didn’t waste any money, but I sure did waste time downloading and trying it out. Complete junk.

Smith Micro Software Inc. subsidiary Allume Systems today introduced StuffIt Deluxe 10 for Mac OS X, the latest major version of the company's data compression tool. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3. or later.
The new JPEG compression technology -- a key reason why Smith Micro acquired Allume from its previous owner, IMSI -- shrinks JPEG images and photos up to 30% with no loss in image quality, according to the developer. StuffIt Deluxe 10 also lets users view thumbnails for archived JPEG images without requiring them to decompress the archive.
StuffIt Deluxe 10 also gets new features for Mac OS X v10.4 'Tiger.' A Spotlight Importer allows Tiger's Spotlight search utility to index file names for items installed inside StuffIt, Zip and Tar archives. A new Automator scripting tool lets users compress and expand StuffIt, Zip and Tar archives as part of their Automator workflows.
Also included with Stuffit 10 is StuffIt SEA Maker, which allows users to build their own self-extracting archives with control over where files are expanded. You can also add a 'splash screen' and text dialog to your SEA.

Other enhancements to Stuffit Deluxe 10 include an improved Stuffit Expander, which adds a new restore mode back to the location where the files were backed up. StuffIt Deluxe 10 also compresses files up to 20% faster using the 'Better' compression algorithm. StuffIt Express PE lets you create dropboxes that can send and retreive files to .Mac iDisks. The contents of Stuffit X archives can also be changed even after the archive has been created and password-protected.
