We suggest you to Uninstall & Re-install the drivers in compatibility mode and try.

Follow the steps to install a driver in compatibility mode:

a. Right click on the setup file of the driver and select Properties

b. Select Compatibility Tab

c. Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list

d. Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.

Thank you for your reply and suggestions, I did as indicated, unfortunately, as before scanner works well, but software DSmobile scan II installs fine and does not run at all (task manager indicates is loaded).

Also, as before, other scanning software works provided I use WIA driver.

note, prior to above, I re-downloaded drivers -win8-64 and software, last version 2/14, (same as I had used before), fully uninstall drivers and software, shutdown with shutdown.exe /s /t 0), unplug computer and then did a clean install.

The links provided did not lead to any helpful suggestion.

Currently I am back running win 8.1 (I could dual boot win 8.1/10, or run in virtual machine) as I need to scan documents with non standard sizes, very easy to do with dsmobile scan II and not so with any other software I've found for win 10.

Drivers are released by manufacturers. We will have to wait for an updated version which will support Windows 10. Please check this link and contact the manufacture for new updated drivers.

In this case is not the scanner drivers at fault, the 8.1 are fine and scanner works normally with other software. It is specifically the one provided by manufacturer, DSMobile 600, that does not work.

The issue is, does windows 10 have a way to help or up to Brother to modify it.

We, of course, are in the middle, either work with limited software or pay for one to replace DSmobile (I tried a few demos providing equivalent options but they are expensive for my limited use, freeware work fine but require additional steps to achieve similar results).

It is ironic I replaced a very good scanner when I upgraded to windows 7-64 as the only way to work with it was in XP Mode, another pain. So, I either stay with 8.1 or go to 10 and buy a new scanner or software...nice!!!

I have contacted Brother on three separate occasions. I bought my DS600 last year. Each time they have given me the same answer:

'Unfortunately, no drivers will be released by Brother for your scanner and Windows 10. This operating system will not be supported by your machine. You may be able to scan using built in drivers from Microsoft. These drivers are installed when you connect a USB cable between the Brother machine and your computer'.

So unless Microsoft can come up with a solution or somebody finds a third party who can provide a solution the only immediate choice, has already pointed out by Roberto Fraile above, is to stay with Win 8.1 or buy a new scanner for use with WIN 10. The DS600 is a great product and had good reviews - what a disappointing finale!
