CarPlay takes the things that you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them on your car's built-in display. When you connect your iPhone to CarPlay, you can get turn-by-turn directions, make calls, send and receive messages, listen to music, and more. The Pacifica is all-new for 2017, and has an updated UConnect that has multi-view camera and a UI that looks like the next gen one in the other cars. But, it doesn't have CarPlay either. The Pacifica owners are PISSED because apparently a lot of dealers said CarPlay was coming and it hasn't. I really hope this has not been covered, but I've spent hours searching and while there is a ton of info / discussion about uconnect updates, none seem to answer this question. I have seen firmware updates for other vehicles that would seem to 'add' carplay support to the existing radio unit. Since the update my iPhone and uconnect wont allow CarPlay. I’ve rebooted the phone, disconnected the phone from uconnect, repaired, unpairled, Bluetooth, starting from scratch. The phone connects, everything works but no CarPlay. No maps, no messaging, nothing. Siri works but when I say maps reply is not while the car is running. CarPlay uses Siri Voice Control, so you can ask for what you want while you're driving — allowing you to stay focused on the road. CarPlay even works with the built-in controls in your car — like a touchscreen, knob, or button.

Set up CarPlay

Follow these steps to get started:

  1. Make sure that you're in an area that supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay.
  2. Start your car, then make sure that Siri is on.
  3. Connect your iPhone to your car:
    • If your car supports CarPlay via USB cable, plug your iPhone into the USB port in your car. The USB port might be labeled with a CarPlay icon or a smartphone icon.
    • If your car supports wireless CarPlay, press and hold the voice-command button on your steering wheel. Make sure that your stereo is in wireless or Bluetooth mode. Then on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap Available cars, then select your car. Check your car manual for more information.

Remove and arrange CarPlay apps

While using CarPlay, the display in your car will show available apps. To add, remove, or customize the order that the apps are in on your iOS device:

  1. Go to Settings > General, and tap CarPlay.
  2. Select your car.
  3. Use the add or delete icons to add or remove apps. Tap and drag an app to change the icon order.

Only apps that are supported by CarPlay will appear. If you have an issue with a third-party app, try to contact the app developer.

Get help

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. After your iPhone is updated, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

  1. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car.
  3. Make sure that Siri is on.
  4. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
  5. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and tap Forget This Car.
  6. Check your connection:
    • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
    • If you have a wireless connection, enable AirPlane Mode by going to Settings > Airplane Mode. Don't enable Airplane Mode from Control Center.
  7. If needed, install firmware updates. Check your car's manual for more information.

Get help

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

  1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
  2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
  3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
  4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure that the cable is certified.
  5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
  6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

If you connect using USB playback

  1. Restart your device and your car.
  2. Make sure that your device is unlocked and on the Home screen.
  3. If possible, try to connect using another cable or USB port. Check your car owner's manual to learn how to connect an Apple device.
  4. Check your charging port for any debris or damage. Make sure that your charging cable is inserted fully into the port.
  5. Update your device.
  6. Install any firmware updates for your car stereo.
  7. Try playing audio from a different app. If you can't play audio from a third-party app, contact the app developer for help. If you can't play audio from an Apple app, contact Apple Support.
